North East Lincs Bonsai Society
Join Our Club!

North East Lincolnshire Bonsai Society was formed in 1995 to promote the art of bonsai culture. Membership is open to absolutely anyone of any age, from anywhere within reasonable travelling distance of Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire.

We are a very friendly, welcoming and informal group and new members are always welcome, regardless of their level of knowledge or competence.

Meetings are held on the last Friday of every month (excluding December, which is the second Friday ) and may include visits by guest speakers, demonstrations by bonsai professionals and general workshops. Our tuition workshops cater for all levels of experience, from the absolute novice to the more advanced, providing advice on maintenance and improvement of trees, as well as basic and more advanced techniques used in bonsai styling.

Club membership has its benefits… we operate a club shop, stocking bonsai sundries such as soils, tools and wire at reasonable costs and members get 10% discount at several local garden centres.

Our Bonsai Society regularly enjoys visits from bonsai professionals, such as John Hanby and Corin Tomlinson, as well as from bonsai potters, Steve Kitchman of ‘China Mist’ and Tony Remington. In 2019 we hosted demonstrations and full days workshops with Ramon Hamers and Harry Harrington. In 2020 we had to stop the monthly meetings due to the Covid 19 pandemic that decimated all social activities. However, after a long period of no meetings we are delighted and excited to announce that our monthly meetings will recommence on Friday 30 July 2021.

Next meeting July 30th 2021

Now that the Government has reduced the restrictions on indoor meetings, North East Lincs Bonsai Society will be meeting again on Friday 30th July 2021. Doors open at 7.00pm and meeting starts at 7.15pm sharp. This will be our first meeting in over a year and we will need to hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This will be followed by a tuition night where people can bring their trees to work on and receive help and styling advice if needed. The hall will be very well ventilated and any precautions will be taken in line with the latest government requirements. We will also have a ‘FOR SALE’ table with bonsai trees and raw  material available for purchase.
